WGSL
7TH GRADE JUNIOR DIVISION OPTION
1.
It is the objective of
the Wallingford Girls' Softball League to provide a positive learning experience for all participants. The
League stresses skill development, team play and fun. The league understands that 7th grade
players are at the crossroads of their maturity/skill level and possibly a move to the Senior Division may not be in the best
interest of the player. The league has developed a procedure to allow parents to submit a request to have
their daughter receive consideration to remain in the Junior Division for one more season. The Junior
Division will be open to girls in grades 4 through 6 and any girl in grade 7 approved by the League Board of Directors for
Junior Division play. The maximum age is 13 years as of January 1 prior
to the playing season.
2.
Parents must complete
the WGSL 7th Grade Request Form and submit it to the WGSL Board of Directors prior to February 1st 2009.
3. The League President and Junior Division Vice-President
will determine acceptance/denial of the request prior to February 8th, 2009 and inform the parent(s) of the player.
4. The League President and Junior Division Vice-President
will give full consideration to the player’s current skill level, including hitting, catching, fielding abilities and
game play comprehension when determining if the player should remain in the Junior Division or proceed to the Senior Division.
The League President and Junior Division Vice-President will reserve the right to discuss the player’s skill
level with the player’s previous coach(es), previous Junior Division Vice-President (if applicable) and competing Coaches
who reside on the Board of Directors. New players may be requested to participate in the Senior draft before
a determination can be made.
5.
With the exception of
discussing the player’s skill level with her current coaching staff and parents, all information associated with this
request will be kept confidential by the Board of Directors.
